Saugeen Connects receives Ontario award

The Saugeen Connects initiative has received a provincial award.

Community Futures Ontario has named Saugeen Connects as the recipient of the Award for Excellence in Community Economic Development.

The award was presented Monday at the Annual CF Ontario Conference in London.

Saugeen Connects addresses issues facing the municipalities of Brockton, Hanover, Minto, Wellington North and West Grey.  Those programs include labour force development, entrepreneurship, youth and newcomer attraction, aging population, and succession planning.

The mission of Saugeen Connects is to collaborate and positively impact area economic growth, support women in business, youth retention and development, support growth and retention of businesses; and to integrate efforts to leverage immigrant attraction to the area as residents, workers, entrepreneurs, business owners, operators and investors.

Each year, the Community Futures Program recognizes excellence in Entrepreneur of the Year, Innovation, and Community Economic Development.
