Local council already planning for 2020 budget

As summer nears its end, Hanover Council is getting an early start on planning for the 2020 budget.

Christine Walker, the Town of Hanover Treasurer and Director of Corporate Service, said in terms of outside funding, local municipalities have some good news.

"The only thing that we are aware of is that the Ontario Municipal Partnership funding will remain as is, so we at least know that is set in stone. The rest is under observation from the government right now, so we don't know anything that's happening with the rest," she said.

Walker said council want to get a handle of how things might look next year as early as possible.

"They want to know what kind of an increase, if any, they want to see. Also, they want to know what additional funding, if any, is available, what our assessment may be, as well as the impact on a ratepayer," she said.

Hanover Council will have an orientation session on October 7th before moving ahead with looking at all the necessary departments for next year's budget.
