After a lengthy discussion on the merits of the province's Natural Heritage Plan, Huron County council has agreed to a change in the name from Natural Heritage to Natural Environment.
Bluewater Mayor Paul Klopp was pleased with the decision to leave it up to each lower-tier municipality to include, or not include, a Natural Environment Plan in their official plan.
Klopp pointed out that Bluewater decided not to include it in the last five-year review of their official plan.
He said Bluewater already has a good plan, so there was no need for another layer. He said each municipality can now decide whether to include it or not.
