Wellington North trying to control growth

Wellington North council is considering how to handle growth and new development.

50 per cent growth is projected for Wellington North between 2016 and 2041.  The question is how to find the happy medium between too fast and too slow.

The cost of growth can be substantial. For instance, Mount Forest’s 10-year-old sewage treatment plant will be at capacity if all the planned development now on the books are completed.

Mayor Andy Lennox said it took about 10 years to get the upgrades to the Arthur Sewage Treatment Plant underway, and the municipality doesn’t want to face a development freeze in Mount Forest as it has experienced in the Village of Arthur.
