The Civic Holiday long weekend was a busy time for local OPP officers.
Across Grey-Bruce, officers responded to 378 calls for service from Friday morning to Monday evening.
102 Provincial Offence Notices were issued for various Provincial Act violations. 25 vehicle collisions were reported, and most were minor. 68 traffic complaints were called in across the detachment area.
21 drivers on Highway 6 between Wiarton and Tobermory were charged with driving 50 kilometres an hour or more over the posted speed limit.
OPP officers patrolling Sauble Beach issued 14 Offence Notices under the Liquor Licence Act. 18 domestic and family disputes were investigated.
Perth County OPP laid numerous driving charges including 65 for speeding, one for stunt driving, one for careless driving, two for disobeying a stop sign, one for seatbelts, and 30 for other Highway Traffic Acts offences.
Two impaired drivers were charged and removed from Perth County roads.
"The most common causes of deaths on Ontario roads are impaired driving, failure or improper use of seatbelts, distracted driving and aggressive driving," said Perth County OPP operations manager Staff Sergeant Steph Pilon. "During the weekend blitz, officers focused particular attention to those breaking traffic laws related to the big four."
