Two weeks ago, Wellington County OPP received a report of an assault that occurred at a Palmerston residence in June.
Following an investigation by the OPP Major Crime Unit, 33-year-old Evan Leslie Thomas Brumwell was arrested and charged with sexual assault.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 3 to answer to the charge.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
