Pop-up legal clinic planned for Owen Sound

Staff at the Grey-Bruce Community Legal Clinic will stage a pop-up clinic in front of Owen Sound city hall next week.

It's to promote the fact that the clinic survived the first round of provincial government cuts, with its services intact.

Clinics in other communities are being forced to reduce their services. Specialized clinics that fight for change in the areas of housing, income security, and workers’ rights are hit the hardest.

The Grey-Bruce Community Legal Clinic is concerned that by next March, deeper cuts to the clinic system are planned. Changes have also been proposed that may see legal aid clinics eliminated altogether.

Concerned residents are invited to gather in front of Owen Sound City Hall at noon on Tuesday, July 30 for a pop-up legal clinic and rally to show support for legal aid.

Grey-Bruce Community Legal Clinic was established in 2002 to provide free legal services to low-income individuals and families in Grey and Bruce counties.
