Perth County OPP officers were shocked to find a small child sitting on a case of beer when they pulled over a vehicle in Atwood.
Officers stopped the sedan on Perth Road 30 at about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday and learned the motorist was using the beer as a substitute for a booster seat for the two-year-old child.
A 22-year-old man from Wellington North was charged with failing to properly secure toddler and was issued a Provincial Offence Notice. A proper child seat was brought to the location and Family & Children's Services has been notified.
Any child in a passenger vehicle that has not reached eight years old or 80 pounds or 4'9" tall must be secured in some form of booster-seat or child-seat. Those under 40 pounds will require a child-seat and those under 22 pounds will require a rear-facing child-seat. Always follow manufactures instructions when sizing and mounting child seats.
