Huron County's CAO outlines what funding cuts can be expected next year

The province has backed off from its initial announcement of significant funding cuts to municipalities that were to take place immediately.

But a report presented by Huron County CAO Meighan Wark to county council recently outlines some of the cuts that are expected next year.

Wark said there are some cuts they know are coming and others that are anticipated but they don't have details on those at this time.

“What we are looking at in terms of known is a decrease of about a million dollars to the municipality. We're assuming that there'll be an additional $665,000 decrease as well," she said.

Wark said they're looking at specific cuts to public health and homes for the aged. But they're still looking for more information on anticipated changes in funding to emergency services.
