Shooting suspects arrested in Owen Sound

Owen Sound police picked up a pair of suspects wanted for a shooting incident Wednesday in Whitby.

A number of police units were involved in the arrest of the wanted suspects at two Owen Sound locations yesterday, including a hotel.

The male and female suspects were taken into custody without incident. Police executed search warrants which resulted in the seizure of a firearm, ammunition and drugs.

A 29-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both of no fixed address, face numerous firearm-related charges. They were held for a bail hearing. The investigation is still ongoing.

Members of the Durham Regional Police Service Tactical Support Unit, Intelligence Unit, K-9 Unit and Owen Sound Police Service assisted investigators from the Central West Division Criminal Investigation Bureau in the arrests.

Investigators are looking for anyone who may have dash-cam video of the two cars racing from Consumers Road to the Whitby Mall on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at the time of 2:30 a.m. Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact D/Cst. Graff of the Central West Division Criminal Investigation Bureau of Durham Regional Police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1831. Anonymous information can be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
