With the hot and humid airmass expected to stick around into Saturday, people are urged to keep their cool.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Huron, Perth, and Northern Wellington counties.
Very high temperatures or humid conditions pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Daytime maximum temperatures near thirty with humidex values in the high thirties are expected Friday afternoon. On Saturday temperatures will remain in the upper twenties with humidex values in the mid to upper 30s. Then a cold front will pass through with cooler temperatures and lower humidity expected for the remainder of the weekend.
Extreme heat affects everyone, but the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
You should drink plenty of water, and stay in a cool place. And never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Public facilities in many municipalities can be used as a place to escape the heat. The City of Owen Sound reminds residents that public facilities throughout the city are available for people to escape the heat.
