OPP officers across northern Grey and Bruce counties continue to stop "stunt drivers".
Over the weekend, officers focused on Highway 6 on the Bruce Peninsula and charged 16 drivers with stunt driving, which is travelling 50 kilometres per hour or more over the posted speed limit.
The fastest vehicle was travelling at 176 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
Early Sunday morning, officers spotted an SUV travelling on Bruce Road 8 in the Municipality of South Bruce Peninsula at over 150 kilometres per hour in a posted 80 km/h zone.
The vehicle was stopped and the officer suspected the male driver to be impaired while operating the motor vehicle. The driver, a 73-year-old man from Midland, was transported to the Chatsworth OPP office.
He was later charged with the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, failure or refusal to comply with a breath demand, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, racing a motor vehicle - excessive speed, having a plate not authorized for the vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
The accused has been released on a Promise to Appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 11.
Throughout the patrol area of the Grey Bruce detachment from Friday evening to Sunday evening, officers conducted over 110 traffic stops. 55 provincial offence notices were issued for various traffic violations.
