A youth networking event is aimed at engaging youth people in Perth County.
Each municipality in Perth County has created a strategy to engage and attract youth in rural communities, to help grow the younger population.
Perth County is now offering tickets for a free event for youth between the ages of 19 and 29 at the Listowel Golf Club July 24 to help meet the growing demand for activities targeted to rural youth.
Organizers want to connect youth county-wide and provide an opportunity to stimulate workforce development.
“In order to counteract the trend of youth out-migration in rural communities, youth need to feel engaged and connected with their community – providing an event for them to connect with their peers is a great first step,” said Rachel Suffern, youth engagement intern for Perth County. “The goal of this event is to encourage youth county-wide to celebrate their rural communities and the positive aspects of a rural lifestyle that you cannot get in urban centres.”
Tickets are available on EventBrite for Perth County's Sip and Swing for youth which takes place July 24 starting at 5:30 p.m. with nine holes of golf and appetizers to follow.
