Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance meets most targets

The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance has met most of the targets set for the first year of its three-year "Commitment to our Communities" strategic plan.

CEO Andrew Williams said they met most of their wait time targets, with one exception.

"We had a bit of a challenge in some of our wait times for cataract surgery and part of that was our facility challenges that we had with our Clinton site, because that's where we house our cataract program," he said. "But we're very pleased with where the year ended, given all of the issues that we're dealing with."

He added staffing is strong in most areas, with the exception of a shortage of lab technicians, which he noted is a problem everywhere.

"A lot of the external relationship pieces are really coming into place nicely, partnerships and the accreditation as an example," said Williams. "Internally, fiscally we're in a good position, just from an annual basis, notwithstanding the on-going financial realities in hospitals."
