Register soon for September's El Camino Hike

Registrations are now being accepted for the Maitland Trail Association's annual El Camino Hike.

The El Camino is a two-day, 49-kilometre hike along the Maitland Trail as it follows the Maitland River.

The Association's Erinn Lawrie said the terrain is challenging.

"We recommend maybe not the best for a beginner hiker, but an experienced hiker should be good. And we do shorter hikes each day, so if you don't want to do the full 49 kilometres, you can pick a shorter hike so you can still participate," said Lawrie.

The El Camino Hike isn't until September 28 and 29 and spots fill up quickly.

Lawrie said they have close to 200 hikers every year, so it's a good idea to register early and start training.

More information about the El Camino Hike can be found on the Maitland Trail Association website.
