Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says she wasn't consulted on her availability when organizers set the date for an education forum in Southampton.
Thompson said she needs to be at Queens Park tonight to represent the Huron-Bruce Riding so she could not accept the invitation to sit as a panelist this evening. However, she said she looks forward to hearing any comments or suggestions that come from the forum sponsored by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation.
The session will spotlight many changes to the education system, and how they will affect rural students and schools.
Thompson said Ontario’s publicly-funded education system is one of the province’s most critical services. She said, as education minister, she is incredibly proud of the changes she is making, which will bring student success back into focus.
The Community Forum starts at 7 p.m. at the Bruce County Museum in Southampton.
"Since day one, I have been someone who has promoted and acted on consultation with Ontario families and as I continue to have the honour of serving as MPP for Huron-Bruce," said Thompson.
Guest speakers include representatives of the Canadian Mental Health Association, local teachers and support staff, an e-learning researcher, and members of Saugeen First Nation.
