More money is coming to the Grey-Bruce region for mental health and addictions services.
Local MPP Bill Walker has announced an additional investment of $1.23 million this year to support people, families and caregivers living with mental health and addictions challenges.
Local agencies receiving funding include Grey Bruce Health Services, Canadian Mental Health Association Grey-Bruce, and Keystone Child, Youth and Family Services.
Included in the overall investment of $174 million is nearly $30 million for child and youth mental health services and programs, as well as more than $27 million to fund mental health supports in Ontario’s education system, which will directly benefit schools, teachers, students and their parents.
In his news release, Bill Walker stated, "This additional funding will go directly towards services for patients and families and help reduce wait times, enhance opioids and addictions services, create additional housing and build capacity in child and youth mental health."
Local agencies receiving funding include:
Grey Bruce Health Services - $1,020,000 for: Youth Residential Treatment and Withdrawal Management- $280,000; early psychosis intervention- $40,000; MHJ – Safebeds- $600,000; and MHJ - Addictions and Withdrawal Management for Safebeds- $100,000. Grey Bruce Health Services also received two additional beds for inpatient mental health needs.
CMHA Grey Bruce - $105,371 for: MHJ - Supportive Housing (LHIN-managed) - $54,820; MHJ - Supportive Housing (ministry-managed)- $22,300; and funding increase for the Rent Supplement Supportive Housing Program- $28,251.
Keystone Child, Youth and Family Services- $110,134 for: child and youth mental health.
