Perth County OPP charge 47 motorists for failing to obey stop signs

Perth County OPP officers laid 47 charges during their week-long Spring Stop and Look campaign.

Perth County has over 1,000 intersections and 25 per cent of the fatal collisions that occur at these intersections are the result of driver's disobeying stop signs.

Police have stressed that failing to properly stop for a stop sign at an intersection is not only a traffic violation but a safety concern.

The campaign was conducted from March 25 to March 3t in order to educate people about the dangers of disobeying stop signs.

"The dangers of irresponsible driving, whether by impairment, speeding or distractions are well-known. Our officers remain dedicated to promoting road safety and reducing motor vehicle collisions through education and enforcement initiatives," said Acting Staff Sergeant Jason McTaggart, operations manager for Perth County OPP.

Should you observe dangerous or concerning driving behaviour, pull over and dial 9-1. For non-emergencies, call police at 1-888-310-1122.
