Social media exploded in North Perth and across Canada's golf landscape Sunday night on the heels of an historic win by a Listowel native at the Valero Texas Open.
Corey Conners became just the fifth Monday qualifier in PGA history to win a tour event and he did it with a lot of poise and professionalism.
While the fourth round started well, four birdies in the first five holes, things got a little dicey. He bogeyed holes six through nine, leaving him even on the day.
But he ate up the back nine sinking six birdies and won by two strokes.
Conners was 6-under for the round and 20-under for the tournament.
With the win he earns $1.3 million and exemptions for a number of tournaments in 2019 and 2020 including the upcoming Master's.
His last Masters' appearance was in 2015.
