Michael Barrett stays with South Bruce Grey Health Centre

South Bruce Grey Health Centre has appointed Michael Barrett as its new President and CEO.

Barrett joined the organization as interim CEO last August, to provide leadership as the board recruited a replacement.

After having been in the interim President and CEO position for seven months, Barrett has now agreed to become the permanent president and CEO.

Barrett was the CEO of the South West Local Health Integration Network for 10 years, with responsibilities for over 150 health service providers across the LHIN.

In this role, he also represented the Ontario LHINs in several provincial portfolios in areas such as Critical Care, Maternal and Child Health, Digital Health and Emergency Management. Prior to his LHIN role, he has also held other leadership positions with the London Health Sciences Centre, the Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario, and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

"During my short time here, I have experienced a group of dedicated staff, volunteers, physicians and board members who care deeply about the people they serve," Barrett said in a news release. "This dedication has significantly influenced my decision to stay with SBGHC. Although not without its challenges, the hospital is well positioned to continue to be a leader in the provision of high-quality health care to the people living in the southern part of Grey and Bruce counties."
