The co-chair of the Huron Shores Transit Initiative Committee says they're hoping to get started on the project in the very near future.
Glen Baillie said the grant $2-million has been confirmed but they're still waiting for the contract paperwork between the Ontario government and the municipality.
Once that's signed, the decision to proceed goes to Lambton Shores Council because the council is the lead on the grant. Baillie said that could happen on the meeting of April 16 or it could be the next meeting.
Once that happens, Baillie said they have a consultant in place and ready to get started on a feasibility study.
But he added there has been one change in the process.
"The period's been shortened by a year, so we have to get everything compressed and get it up and running so that we can have a good idea whether a transit system will be a worthwhile service that is cost-effective in this area," he said.
The transit proposal would include North Middlesex and Lambton Shores as well part of Perth and Huron counties.
