South Huron Council has authorized spending up to $12,000 to hire a consultant to conduct a feasibility study on ways to attract a hotel to the area.
CAO Dan Best said when a rural community wants to attract that kind of investment, they have to be prepared to do a little more than an urban centre would have to do.
"As a rural municipality, if you're looking at attracting investment, you have to make sure that you have the demographic information and you have certain studies available that tells the story of your municipality," he said.
Best said they haven't chosen a location. He added the consultants will be in a better position to look at the situation through their lens, given their expertise.
