Sunday Flea Market vendors in Goderich looking for new location

A former vendor at the Sunday Flea Market in Goderich says the current situation has taken all of the fun out of selling there.

Terry Saxby questions why the Goderich BIA is no longer interested in running it. As far as he knows, the Flea Market was generating revenue for them.

"The vendors are pleasant with one another, it's a social thing, you have a good time laughing and conversation with your customers. But it's no longer fun now. This has given me a very bad taste in my mouth," he said.

Saxby said the vendors have an invitation to set up on property across from Suncoast Mall along Highway 21, where there is an existing flea market, but no decision has been made.

BIA Manager Susan Armstrong said the mandate of the BIA is to support the merchants on the Square, and they were not doing that by allowing products to be sold at the Flea Market that were competitive with products being sold in the stores.

Armstrong added the decision to withdraw support for the Flea Market was not the result of anyone complaining.
