KIDS program introduced in Saugeen Shores schools

The Saugeen Shores Police Service has launched a new in-school educational program called KIDS.

KIDS stands for Knowledge, Issues, Decisions and Support.

The new program is about empowerment, mutual respect, social/digital media awareness and the law and values of society.

It replaces the Drug Awareness Resistance Education (DARE) program, which had been used for many years in local schools.

KIDS utilizes interactive teaching tools where much of the content is driven by the students.  In addition to the OPP, many municipal police services now use KIDS in their local schools.

It will be presented to grade six students this week in Saugeen Shores schools.  The KIDS program will be administered over two weeks with 10 one hour sessions.
