A new economic development program is launching in North Huron this week.
The Wingham BIA and the Township's Economic Development Committee are hosting an event Wednesday to introduce the 'In It To Win It' project.
It's based on the 'Win this Space' concept that has been successful in in other towns and villages. Financial support is coming from Libro’s Prosperity Fund.
You can meet the contestants and hear some of the ideas on Wednesday afternoon at 4:45 in the Hot Stove Lounge in the North Huron Wescast Community Complex.
Applications are still available online at www.northhuron.ca. They can be submitted digitally, or can be dropped off at the Township of North Huron office in Wingham. The application deadline is Monday, March 4th.
'In It to Win It' has the potential to attract new businesses and entrepreneurs from outside the area, or see existing businesses expand in new areas.
It offers cash and in-kind prizes totalling $10,000 to the winner, plus professional business training and mentoring sessions.
Finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges in late March. These participants will receive training for a ten-minute pitch session.
At the grand finale on April 25th, finalists will pitch their business to a panel of judges. This will be a public event. Finalists will be notified in May and the winner will be determined in June.
