The "Spruce the Bruce" community development program is back for another year.
As of Friday, Bruce County business owners and communities can apply for grants for their development initiatives. The program will award a total of over $100,000 to eligible projects this year.
"The key to successful community development is having a clear and actionable vision that engages all stakeholders," said Kara Van Myall, director of planning and development for Bruce County. "The existing work that has been done through Spruce the Bruce proves that a clear and collective vision builds a community that attracts people and jobs."
'Spruce the Bruce' works with communities to make improvements that attract prospective residents, existing residents, entrepreneurs, and visitors. Those improvements can include streetscape, facades, signage, marketing and destination infrastructure.
"Our team helps community stakeholders capitalize on the opportunity to build strong, aligned identities and make them come to life creating destinations that people want to live in, visit and build a business," said Vicki Ly, economic development officer for Bruce County.
