Man who fled police spotted and arrested

Saugeen Shores police have arrested a 33-year-old Port Elgin man after he allegedly fled from officers earlier this year.

On January 18, a Saugeen Shores officer observed a male driving a vehicle who was prohibited from driving as a result of a recent impaired driving conviction. The man refused to pull over and drove to an address on Bricker Street in Port Elgin. Once there, the man fled on foot. The man's vehicle was then impounded for a 45-day period.

On February 21, the man in question was spotted in the downtown core of Port Elgin. Officers from the Criminal Investigations and Drug Unit arrested the male without incident.

The man is now charged with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited and flight from police. He was released from custody with a court date.
