PJHL: Walkerton and Wingham earn wins

Walkerton 2 Hanover 1 (Hawks lead the series 3-0)

Spencer Elder's goal midway through the second would stand as the game winner and Walkerton held on to beat Hanover 2-1 and take a 3-0 lead in their PJHL Pollock Division first round series.

Justin McCrae opened the scoring late in the first and also had an assist. Noah Johnson had the Barons' only goal less than a minute after Elder's game winner.

Mathew Donnelly made 41 saves in the win. Brendon Landry stopped 33 shots for the Barons.

The Hawks can sweep the series with a victory Friday night on home ice.

Wingham 5 Goderich 3 (Ironmen lead the series 2-0)

Jamie Huber struck twice and the Wingham Ironmen took a 2-0 series lead in their Pollock Division first round playoff with a 5-3 win over Goderich.

Kyle Stanbury also had a two point night with a goal and an assist.

The Flyers were given nine power play opportunities but only capitalized on one of them. The Ironmen were 2-for-5 with the man advantage.

Josaih Kraayenbrink had the game winner for Wingham at 12:10 of the third. Huber added insurance with less than three-and-a-half minutes left to play.

Game 3 of this series is Friday, February 8th in Wingham.
