2017 IPM Group has more plans for local funding donations

The 2017 IPM foundation continues to hand out funding supporting a number of local initiatives.

Yesterday morning representatives from the 2017 IPM delivered a $20,000 cheque to the Wingham and District Hospital for their oncology unit. 2017 IPM Chair Jacquie Bishop says it was a no brainer to help out with the newly renovated unit.

"The oncology department here at Wingham and District Hospital services residents within Huron, Bruce and Perth County, and we thought it was a way to reach out to many residents that are touched, and everyone is touched by cancer is some way or another."

Bishop says they're not done yet in terms of handing out more funding, which included another cheque yesterday that went to Huron Residential Hospice in Central Huron. She also says more are soon on the way.

"We will be moving south and be giving $20,000 to Jessica's House, which also services that end of life experience that we may all need in the future, and we are also giving $20,000 to the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre."

The food bank cheque will be going towards a new van to help transport food and volunteers throughout the region that they serve. Bishop also notes they're also committing a large sum toward local students.

"We were lucky enough to allocate $250,000 that will be rolled out to second year students that are enrolled in college, university, school of trades or an apprenticeship program."

Bishop says money will also be available for graduated students who come back to work in Huron County. The funding for students will be handed out over 25 years.
