A number of hospitals in Huron-Bruce are receiving funding from the province's Health Infrastructure Renewal program.
A news release from MPP Lisa Thompson's office explains the South Bruce Grey Health Centre will receive $2,756,447 for its sites in Kincardine, Walkerton, Chesley, and Durham.
Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich can expect $74,496. Clinton Public Hospital will see $280,997 in new funding.
Seaforth Community Hospital gets $205,021, South Huron Hospital will receive $422,844, and Wingham and District Hospital is looking forward to $191,869 in funding.
“The health and safety of patients and families is a priority for our government,” said Thompson. “That’s why we must make the necessary investments in our hospitals now, to ensure our providers have the facilities they need to continue to provide excellent quality care to patients."
The MPP added that she is positive CAOs at local hospitals that received the HIRF funding will welcome the news and echo sentiments expressed by Andrew Williams, president and CEO of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance.
"The commitment of the government to local, front line patient care through this announcement is significant and greatly appreciated,” Williams said. "The funding allows us to complete necessary infrastructure projects, such as elevator upgrades and medical vacuum system, fuel tank and generator replacements which very much support us in continuing to provide the great care our patients and their families deserve."
