The Seaforth Library is getting ready to launch a new program that will put books in the hands of more readers.
Branch Manager Heather Lavallee said the home library service is specifically aimed at people who can't get to the library without transportation, such as those with health issues or those who are homebound, and even young mothers with new babies.
The library will set up profiles for people and select material for them. Volunteers will deliver the material to their homes.
Lavallee said there is an added benefit for some.
"They're going to be connected to the library by having the materials brought to their home, but more importantly they're going to have that interaction with a member of their community and we're hoping not only will people be able to receive library material and services through this initiative, but people will be able to connect with their neighbour," she said.
Lavallee is asking anyone who would like to receive the service, or be one of the volunteer drivers, to contact her at the Seaforth Library.
