Wellington North undecided about allowing the retail sale of cannabis

Wellington North is struggling to decide whether to allow the sale of cannabis.

Municipalities have until January 22 to decide.

One Centre Wellington resident urged council not to allow retail sales, even if it means losing some provincial money from sales.

Wellington North will continue to gather information before deciding, including an online survey that is being conducted through the municipal website.

The Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health Unit is advising municipalities not to allow the retail sale of cannabis until more is known about its health impacts on the community, including crime, addiction and auto safety.
