The Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation’s Guardian Angel Campaign aims to raise $400,000 towards the $4.7 million needed for a new MRI system.
The system at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital serves patients across Grey and Bruce and beyond, is dire need of an update.
The new system is more spacious for larger patients and provides quieter and faster imaging to reduce scan times. It also includes new software for cardiac and prostate imaging, enhanced breast imaging for biopsy and detection and increased energy efficiency.
The MRI system is used over 11,000 times per year to diagnose a range of medical conditions. The foundation is mailing out the Holiday appeal for donations to residents across the region.
“We are hoping the urgent need of an MRI inspires people to give this holiday season,” said Foundation Executive Director Amy McKinnon. “Fourteen years ago the generous support of our community made the purchase of our first MRI possible. We are hoping our community will help again.”

Donations can also be made securely at www.oshfoundation.ca/angel. Donations to the Guardian Angel Campaign are recognized on the Foundation’s Angel Trees and Honour Rolls located at Heritage Place Shopping Centre and in the lobby of the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.
