Georgian College gets high ranking in provincial survey

A provincial survey finds the majority of graduates from Georgian College in Owen Sound and Barrie are employed.

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities survey shows Georgian’s ranking in four key performance indicators is higher than the provincial average, and an increase over last year’s results.

Results showed 90.3 per cent of Georgian graduates surveyed found work within six months of graduation. This is a three per cent increase over last year’s result and well above the average of all Ontario colleges, which is 85.7 per cent.

Georgian’s graduate satisfaction rate also increased over last year to 82.5% and is three per cent higher than the provincial average. Georgian College also has the highest percentage of students enrolled in paid co-op work terms in the Ontario college system.

"We are extremely gratified to maintain our standing as a leading Ontario college for graduate employment,” said Georgian College President and CEO MaryLynn West-Moynes. "Local employers recognize the value of a Georgian education and although our graduates can work in any country around the world, many choose rewarding careers close to home, while others come to Canada to study with hopes of securing gainful employment after graduation."

In total, 6,200 employers partner with Georgian to offer student work experiences, including co-op, internship, placement and field experience.
