Saugeen Shores leader rallies support for Nuclear Innovation Institute

The incoming mayor of Saugeen Shores has written an open letter supporting the construction of the proposed Nuclear Innovation Institute in Saugeen Shores.

Deputy Mayor Charbonneau said Bruce Power will play a big role in a future of carbon-neutral energy grids, and Saugeen Shores can support the development of revolutionary technology in support of Bruce Power.

He said as the refurbishment ramps up, there have successful recruitment efforts to bring industry-leading companies to the region. Charbonneau added that he believes the centre of excellence would make it even more attractive for more companies.

He said he is calling on the community to send a message that they want the Nuclear Innovation Institute and that we want to work with Bruce Power to make it happen.

Bruce Power recently announced a plan to build it at the Bruce County Museum in Southampton fell through due to lack of support.
