Jonathan Yantsis opened the scoring just over five-and-a-half minutes into the game. Erik Čermák answered for the Petes, scoring late in the first and again in the first three minutes of the second to give the Petes a 2-1 lead.
Campbell's first of the game at 6:07 of the second would tie the game and Justin MacPherson would put the Rangers ahead with an unassisted goal just past the midway point. The Petes Christopher Paquette tied the game again late in the second assisted by Čermák and Adam Timleck.
Greg Meireles scored on an empty Petes net with less than 30 seconds left in regulation to give the Rangers some insurance.
