Fundraising efforts for the addition to The Cargill and District Community Centre are kicking into high gear with construction underway.
Plans for the new addition were decided a couple of years ago, to help address energy inefficiency and accessibility issues. The addition will consist of an expanded accessible entranceway, larger meeting room, orderly cloakroom, and barrier-free washrooms to create a more useful and energy efficient space.
Work on the estimated $805,000 project is expected to wrap up in March.
Fundraising is needed for 60% of the cost. $185,000 has been raised to date, with $300,000 left to go.

The Cargill Community Centre is a valuable asset to the communities of Cargill, and Brockton, featuring a multitude of community events hosted throughout the year," said Mayor David Inglis. "These renovations will benefit our community engagement and economic development for years to come.”
The Cargill and District Community Fund is launching a public campaign.

Donations should be payable to “The Municipality of Brockton”, and can be dropped off, or mailed to the Municipality of Brockton, P. O. Box 68, 100 Scott Street, Walkerton, ON N0G 2V0.
