Huron County students now part of MyAcademy Program

The Avon Maitland District School Board is partnering with the Stratford Festival again this year.

Superintendent Jodie Baker said they've expanded the MyAcademy program to include students from Huron County. The students get to work with the professionals at the festival for about two months.

"They coach students in theatre; it includes acting, but there's musical theatre, technical theatre, there's lighting so they get to look at staging and costume, sound for people who want to know more and are thinking about perhaps careers in sound or recording," she said.

At the end of their training sessions, they do a final presentation. For the Perth County students, that's on December 14.

The Huron students will start their instruction in February and their presentation will be sometime in April.

The program is available to students from Grades 7 to 12 and any students wishing to get involved can go on the website myacademy.yourschools.ca.
