Work on Stratford high schools to start next June

A superintendent with the Avon Maitland District School Board says they've set up a platform called "thought exchange", to help people provide input and ask questions about construction at Stratford Central High School.

Janet Baird-Jackson said ministry funding is coming with some strings attached, including reducing the size of the project.

"That's the ministry criteria for the funding.   That is,  we have to utilize available space at Stratford Northwestern, so the requirement for us is to shift approximately 300 pupil places to Northwestern," said Baird Jackson.

The board is in the process of collecting public input.

"We're launching an online platform, so that tool allows us to gather broad-based input, participants are able to confidentially provide their input, answer questions and raise issues that are important," added Baird-Jackson.

The work will include accessibility improvements and asbestos removal, and is expected to start next June.
