Kincardine and Port Elgin schools prepare for grades relocation

The Bluewater District School Board has announced the dates for two information meetings regarding Grades Relocations at most of the schools in Kincardine and Port Elgin.

Because of significant growth in elementary school enrolment, there is an immediate need to address classroom shortages for next September.

The first meeting is Thursday, November 1, at Kincardine District Secondary School regarding a grades relocation at Kincardine area schools. That meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

Staff will explain transition plans for the relocation of Grades 7 and 8 students to Kincardine District Secondary School. Those students would come from Kincardine Township-Tiverton Public School, Elgin Market Public School, and Huron Heights Public School.

An email account has been created for parents, guardians and community members to ask questions and seek clarification. Submissions are being accepted at [email protected] until Friday, November 9.

The board will hold a similar information meeting on Monday, November 5 at Saugeen District Secondary School to explain transition plans for the relocation of Grades 7 and 8 students to Saugeen District Secondary School next September.

The move is designed to ease the overcrowding situation at Northport Elementary School and Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School. That information meeting will also start at 6:30 p.m.

An email account has been created for parents, guardians and community members to ask questions and seek clarification. Submissions are being accepted at [email protected] until Tuesday, November 13.
