Cyclones and Lincolns earn decisive wins

Listowel 5 Brampton 1

Holdyn Lansink struck twice including a short handed goal in the second and a power play goal late in the third and the Listowel Cyclones beat Brampton 5-1.

Chayse Herrfort got the scoring started for Listowel on the power play assisted by Lansink and Brayden Krieger just over six minutes into the game. Hayden Coulter gave the Cycs a 2-0 lead at 14:36. Ivan Brewer answered for the Bombers, unassisted about a minute-and-a-half later.

Lansink was the lone scorer in the second.

Steven Grant scored on the power play early in the third.

Lansink earned three points in the game with a pair of goals and an assist. Herrfort had a goal and an assist for Listowel.

David Giancola stopped 41 shots for the Bombers. Riley McCabe made 26 saves for Listowel.

Stratford 1 Cambridge 0

Zack Weir stopped all 28 shots he faced in the Stratford Warriors 1-0 win over Cambridge.

Nick Jung generated the game's only offense, scoring late in the second. Drew Ferris and Nathan Smilsky got credit for the assist.

St. Marys 6 St Thomas 2

Blair Butchart scored and set up two more to lead St. Marys to a 6-2 win over St. Thomas. Justin Richler stopped 32 shots to earn the win.

Other scorers for the Lincolns: Quinton Pepper, Mason Goldie, Cayse Ton, Darcy Winkler and Jake Weston.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
