Safety concerns at Eugenia Falls

The OPP in Grey County are reminding visitors and hikers at Eugenia Falls to follow the posted signs.

Grey Sauble Conservation has posted signs to keep people on the trails and within the assigned viewing areas for the falls.

Police said it's a safety issue. In 2017, emergency services responded to two incidents where someone fell after leaving the assigned viewing area and marked trails.

A 19-year-old man died in July of 2017 after falling 40 feet from a cliff. A month later, a 25-year-old woman was seriously injured after she fell 30 feet.

Police said you can be charged under the Trespass to Property Act if you are found outside the assigned viewing area or leave the marked trail.

If you witness anyone not following the posted sign instructions, you are asked to contact Grey County OPP.
