The West Region Sexual Violence Crown with the Ministry of the Attorney General and Chair of the Huron Domestic Assault Review Team presented Huron County council with a request at this week's council meeting.
Teresa Donnelly explains she's asking council to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action in Ending Violence Against Women, with some specific requests from council.
“We're requesting that county council lower the flag to half mast on December 6th, that the warden speak at a 10:00 am ceremony and that fourteen red roses with the names of each woman that was murdered on December 6th, 1989 be displayed inside the Huron County court house on December 6th.”
Council agreed to those requests.
Donnelly also said they were planning some other events as well and the community was invited to join them in marking the National Day of Remembrance and Action in Ending Violence Against Women and noted that violence against women continues in our country, or province and our county.
