The opening of the Mill Creek Bridge at the eastern edge of Port Elgin has been delayed by several weeks.
The bridge on Bruce County Rd. 17 has undergone extensive rehabilitation this spring and summer, including replacement of the superstructure and the additions of sidewalk and improved lighting.
But work had to be stopped on the bridge while a new gas distribution line was installed under the creek at the bridge site. Inclement weather also delayed construction.
The Mill Creek Bridge is expected to be ready for regular use by the middle of September.
