Former Goderich Deputy Mayor John Grace officially launched his campaign for mayor of Goderich Wednesday night at the Livery Theatre. Close to 150 people attended the event.
Grace was defeated by Jim Donnelly in 2014 and says the four years away from politics gave him a break, but it also gave him a new perspective on the community and he really felt he needed to get involved again.
"There are a lot of changes happening in our community," he says. "Whether it's the demographic shift that we're having, whether it's the downtown core residential development, the beach re-development. There's a lot of things gonna happen over the next ten years and we have to be ready for it."
Grace says he's not focused on any specific issues although there are four or five planks in his platform. But he points to the need for leadership at a time of considerable change in the community over the next few years.
Grace is running against incumbent Kevin Morrison and former councillor David Yates to be mayor of Goderich for the next four years.
