Police in Owen Sound have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery Monday night.
A man entered a business in the 300-block of 8th St. E shortly after 9pm. He was wearing a disguise and brandishing a knife. A second man remained outside as a lookout.
An alert citizen thought the man's behaviour was suspicious and watched him.
When the other suspect came out of the business, the two fled on foot. The citizen chased after them, eventually catching one of them and then contacted police.
Uniformed officers quickly arrived and took the suspect into custody as well as items seized for forensic examination.
A 43-year-old Owen Sound resident will attend bail court on Tuesday on charges that include robbery, failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to comply with probation.
Police say a second suspect was later arrested on Tuesday at around 3pm in the area of Kelso Beach. Officers took the 23-year-old Chatsworth man into custody without incident and he is now charged with robbery with an offensive weapon, wearing a disguise in the commission of an offence, forcible confinement and possession of proceeds of crime. He will appear in court on Wednesday.
The Owen Sound Police Service is asking that anyone who may have information about the incident to contact Detective Constable Houston at (519) 376-1234 ext. 177, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS), or submit a secure web-tip at www.cstip.ca.
