Huron County Burn Ban Still in Effect

The Howick Fire Department is reminding residents that the burn ban covering Huron County is still in place.

In a tweet on Thursday, Howick fire officials said dry conditions in the county have not improved.

The ban includes open-air burning, backyard campfires and restrictions on campground fires.

Some areas in Bruce County have lifted their fire bans including Kincardine, Saugeen Shores and the area of Huron-Kinloss covered by the Ripley-Huron Fire Department.

Residents are still urged to use caution when having a fire by clearing away all combustible materials, keeping propane tanks at least 3 metres from buildings, clearing out any accumulated dry debris from your property, and carefully discarding cigarettes.

If you are unsure if there is a fire ban in your area, check with your local municipality.
