Mount Forest may be getting a new solar farm, located along the abandoned rail land running between Lovers Lane and County Rd. 6.
The private land is owned by the German Solar Corporation which is acting on behalf of London Hydro Inc. The land will support up to a 500 kW installation of solar panels.
The property is currently used by hikers and cyclists as well as Mennonites with horse and buggies.
Council has agreed to allow the project to tie into power lines belonging to Wellington North Power.
A public meeting will be held August 14.
