Butts And Garbage Cleanup At Goderich Beaches Friday

The Huron County Health Unit is partnering with the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation in an effort to clean up Goderich beaches Friday.

Volunteers are needed to help pick up litter on the beach, especially cigarette butts.

Public Health Promoter Jacquie Uprichard says "we know that cigarette butts are one of the most commonly-found items on Huron County beaches, and we're trying to give people a little more information about how they can properly dispose of them, so we're not causing as much harm to our local waterways and beaches".

Anyone interested in helping clean up the Goderich beaches is asked to show up at the Rotary Beach between 3pm and 7pm on Friday.

There will be giveaways and activities, all designed to encourage people to keep the beaches as clean as possible.
