A former member of Goderich council has entered the race to become mayor of the town.
David Yates has served served five terms on Goderich council from 1997 to 2014 and retired last Friday after a 30-year career as a teacher.
Yates says waterfront development is going be important as well as the growth of small business and community improvement, quality of living issues and taxation levels.
“We're in the midst of a real estate boom here in Goderich and real estate seems to have taken a big jump and its mostly from retirees from the city moving into the area, not just Goderich but along the entire lake shore here seems to be experiencing unprecedented perhaps real estate increases,” said Yates.
Yates is running against incumbent Keven Morrison and former Deputy Mayor John Grace.
